St. Bede’s Group
This ladies’ fellowship group meets in prayer, taking on small fundraisers such as ‘Samaritan Purse’ Shoe Boxes, Recipe Christmas Cards and Christmas Baskets, benefiting the parish and beyond.
Durham Outlook For the Needy
St George’s Outreach Committee sponsors dinner for all patrons on the fourth Tuesday of every month at Durham Outlook for the Needy (DOFTN), formerly St. Vincent’s Kitchen. Volunteers from St. George’s assist at this meal. New volunteers are always gratefully welcome.

Ukrainian Support
St George’s has played an integral in Durham Ukrainian Relief Project (“DURP”), whose purpose is to help newcomers from Ukraine settle in Durham Region.
Numerous teams from St. George’s and the community provide assistance to Ukraine in the following areas: immigration, legal aid, applying to government programs, transportation, accommodation, financial Aid, health care, translation, education, employment, food and clothing.
To financially support our cause, the Durham Ukrainian Relief Fund (“DURF”) has been created. A finance committee of volunteers carefully manages and distributes the funds and authorizes charitable donation receipts to be issued. DURF supports several programs. The two most important are a temporary housing program upon arrival in Canada and direct financial support to families in need. The needs of newcomers and the requests to help them exceed the capacity of DURP to raise money. We are grateful for the financial support of St. George’s Anglican Church. Christmas Hampers
Donations of non-perishable food items and money are collected leading up to Christmas. Hampers are put together and given to families in need. Such a wonderful way to make Christmas a little brighter!
Mitten tree
Each fall, St. George’s collects new mittens, hats and scarves, placing them on ‘the mitten tree’ in the church proper. Calls are made to the schools in Oshawa to see where the donations are needed. Child size donations were distributed to two local schools this past year! Adult size donations were distributed to the Durham Outlook for the Needy. All donations were very much appreciated. We look forward to continuing with this outreach ministry in the coming years.
